The Safety Policy

Willowbrook is concerned about and committed to the safety of their children. All toys and materials in the classroom are age-appropriate. Balconies, used for sand and water play, are enclosed, safe and secure. Locks on bathrooms are located out-of-reach from children. Teachers develop and implement safety rules in their classrooms. When the children go to the park, Willowbrook smocks are worn to easily identify the Willowbrook children. Also, safety rope handles are used to walk to the park.

In the case of fire or earthquake, the school will evacuate to Arisugawa Park. An earthquake and fire drill is practiced at least once a month with the children.

Our building is highly rated for earthquake safety. In the event of an earthquake, we are equipped with emergency first aid equipment, as well as enough food and water for everyone for 7 days.

All staff participates in first aid/CPR as part of their mandatory annual training. The school also keeps an AED (automated electronic defibrillator) on site, and all staff are trained in its use.
Because some of our students have life-threatening food allergies, we ask that parents not send these foods in their child's lunch at any time. Parents will be notified each year as to which foods are on the severe allergy list.

If your child has an allergy requiring the use of an Epipen or other similar device, please contact us directly in regards to the Japanese regulations pertaining to Epipen use.
